I read philosophy and history at the University of Cambridge in the late 1970s. I then worked as a tax policy adviser, while continuing my philosophical work. From 2006 to 2011, I taught philosophy to adults.
I now concentrate on writing. My main area of work is epistemology, but I have also written on the philosophy of mind and on ethics. I live in Cambridge.
I am always happy to give talks at philosophical societies, colleges, schools, book groups, and other venues.
I also speak at tax conferences, on ethical issues connected with taxation.
